Before you start

Office 2024 runs on Windows 10 and Windows 11.
Remove any old or trial Office from Settings → Apps, then restart. Two copies cause strange license messages.
Choose 64-bit unless you have an old add-in that needs 32-bit.
Have the key (25 characters) ready, an internet connection and a correct system clock.

Step 1: get the Office Deployment Tool

Download the Office Deployment Tool from Microsoft’s official download center and run it to extract setup.exe into a folder such as C:\Office2024.

Step 2: the configuration file

In the same folder create a text file named configuration.xml with this (Volume LTSC 2024, Arabic and English):

Step 3: install and activate

Open Command Prompt in that folder (type cmd in the address bar) and run:

setup.exe /configure configuration.xml

Wait for the download and install to finish, then activate:

Open Word → File → Account.
Click “Change Product Key”.
Paste the key and click Activate, then close Word and reopen it.

Confirm Office is activated

In Word: File → Account should show “Product Activated” under Product Information.
Or from an admin Command Prompt, look for LICENSE STATUS: ---LICENSED---

Common problems

“We could not find a valid license”: usually a second Office copy. Remove all copies and reinstall.
Install does not start: check the file is configuration.xml and not configuration.xml.txt, and that you are in the same folder.
Apps open in read-only mode: activation did not complete; recheck the status.

Remove Office completely before installing

Open Settings → Apps → Installed apps.
Find Microsoft Office or Microsoft 365 and uninstall everything related.
Restart the PC after uninstalling.
If leftovers remain use Microsoft’s official Office removal tool (Support and Recovery Assistant).

Tips that make installation easier

Free up enough space: the full edition needs several gigabytes on the system drive, so check before downloading.
Use a stable connection: the deployment tool downloads files during setup, so a steady connection saves time and avoids a broken download.
Run Command Prompt as administrator if a permissions message appears.
Restart the PC after removing the old Office and before the new install.
Do not interrupt setup even if it seems stuck for a few minutes; the download continues in the background.

Keep configuration.xml after installing. If you need to reinstall later or add a language, edit the file and run the same command instead of starting from scratch.

Which apps come with Office 2024 Professional Plus

Professional Plus normally includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, and also Access and Publisher depending on the configuration file. That is why you can exclude apps you do not need in the configuration file and save space. You do not have to install everything.

Installing Office on another PC
