After payment your order arrives in "My library" within 24 hours, and you get an email when it is ready. Open "My library" with a code sent to your email and reveal the details: the Steam login and password, plus the included email and its password. Do not share these details with anyone.
Get ready before you start
- Your phone with the official Steam app from the app store.
- A personal email that only you can access, to move the account to.
- Your own device, not a public or shared PC, and fifteen unhurried minutes.
- Sign in only through store.steampowered.com or the official app, and never open sign-in links sent in messages or on Discord: that is the most common way accounts get stolen (phishing).
Securing it, in order
- Sign in to the included email and change its password. This comes first, because Steam codes are sent to this email. If it lets you add a recovery phone or email, add yours.
- Sign in to Steam and change the password. In the Steam app or website: account name → Account details → Change password. The first sign-in may ask for a code sent to the email you just secured.
- Change the Steam account email to your own. Account details → Contact info → "Change my email address", then confirm with the code.
- Enable Steam Guard on your phone. Install the official Steam app, sign in, open the Steam Guard tab (shield icon) → Add authenticator, add your phone number and confirm the text message.
- Sign out every other device. Account details → Manage Steam Guard → "Deauthorize all other devices". This ends any old session on the account.
When you add the authenticator, Steam gives you a recovery code that starts with R. Photograph or write it down and keep it somewhere safe: it is your only way back into the account if you lose your phone.
How to confirm the account is yours
- The Account details page shows your own email.
- The security status says the account is protected by the Steam Guard Mobile Authenticator.
- Every new sign-in asks for a code from the Steam app on your phone.
- The old included email now has a password only you know.
After securing it: download the game
Open Steam on your PC and sign in with the account (it will ask for a code from the phone app). Go to your Library, pick the game, click Install and choose the drive to download to, ideally an SSD. The download continues in the background and you can follow it at the bottom of the Library window.
You can sign in from more than one of your own devices, and every new sign-in needs approval from the Steam app on your phone, so nobody gets into your account without you knowing.
Normal things you do not need to worry about
- After changing security details, Steam may apply temporary trade and Community Market restrictions. It is a standard security measure and does not affect downloading or playing games.
- Some games ask for the publisher's account on first launch. For example, the FC 27 Steam page states the game requires the EA app and EA online activation.
- Downloads need enough space. Games like FC 27 need about 100 GB.
- If Steam asks for a code and it does not arrive, check the email's spam folder and wait a minute before requesting a new one.
If something goes wrong
If the account does not work or does not match the description, contact us before trying fixes from the internet. The warranty starts at delivery and its length is listed on each game's page; we fix it, replace the account or refund you after verification, as long as you followed the delivery steps.
